Thumbs up Torque Spec for drag link 1956 Chevy Truck

"lost" ok yea just misplaced my torque book i put down my numbers in for the 56 so I would not have to look them up online or in the manual.

Need to torque up my drag link to pitman and steering knuckle on the 1956 Chevy truck.
First one with right answer gets my praise. Its hot and I am tired so not going to search and sort thru forum and my online books.

Going to cleanup the grease off the arms after doing some front end suspension work and take a break now that its hot and humid again here in the south.

And maybe i might have the answer from you guys after I am back from cleaning up.

Torque each castle nut to 120-170 ft/lbs. (162.70-230.49Nm), then align a castle nut slot with the cotter pin hole. Tighten further just enough to align if necessary. Install a new cotter pin and bend each end at least 45* to hold it in position.”

Re: Torque Spec for drag link 1956 Chevy Truck

It's going to depend on the size of the thread of the stud.

In truth I serously doubt that I have ever tightened any tie rod end nut moreythan 60/70 lbs. I've never used a torque wrench on any that i was working on either. Admittidly I was a lot stronger 40 years ago than i am now.

This is a bolt torque spec chart with the reccomended maximum torque for each size bolt, Not the working spec but maximum you should consider going.
