Trying to quiet down gurgling exhaust
I have been fighting this problem for years. On my 72 Blazer the exhaust sounds like a tractor at idle, gugrgly. Engine is pretty much stock with ram horn straight dumps. I put in a new 2 1/4" exhaust from Hearthrob a few years ago with dynomax turbo mufflers. I added a crossover pipe that didn't help. I rebuilt the engine over the winter hoping that might help, didn't. Now I changed over to a longer mangaflow set of mufflers and I still can't get it to be reasonably sounding.
What's left?

Re: Trying to quiet down gurgling exhaust
How about a short video clip of the noise from the exhaust. Every person hears noises differently and it may help diagnose the problem. It may be similar to what others have experienced with their exhaust systems.

Re: Trying to quiet down gurgling exhaust
I feel the same way about the sound of my truck. It's an all stock 307 with single 2" exhaust and glasspack. I don't think there's anything wrong with it or that it sounds particularly bad, I just think there's only so much grunt you can get out of a stock motor, regardless of the exhaust. Here's a clip of my truck for your comparison. Easiest way for me to include a video is to upload it to youtube.
