New member-70 C10 LWB "Darth Mauler"
Hi all,
I've been lurking on this board for a few years, and have been on the lookout for a 69-72 C10 LWB as a truck I've been wanting to own for quite a while now. Finally found a 1970 C10 locally. I've been a car guy all my life, so this is the first truck I've ever owned. Got a pretty good deal I think. A little history, from what I've been able to gather I believe I'm only the third owner of this truck. I believe it was a farm truck and barn-kept almost all of it's life, and the second owner was a car flipper who bought it from the original owner and kept it in a garage with the intention of restoring it but never got around to it. He had it about a year. The truck is very nice and I'm very excited to finally have one. However after I took possession of the truck and started going through it, it was even more apparent that the second owner didn't do a damn thing to it. He did drive it to work and back, and claimed he had even taken it with his wife to Pigeon Forge and back (about a 620 mi round trip from Cinci, OH), but if true he was either really brave, really stupid, or both... read below. The Good: 1. All original (except for wheels) 2. All original paint black/white top in decent condition 3. 307 V8, 3 on the tree 4. Not much rust on top or in bed 5. Body is straight, no dents 6. All lights and signals work 7. Still has spare tire underneath (never used) 8. Clean title and history The Bad: 1. The drum brakes were a death trap, rears weren't even connected, no brake fluid in the reservoir. Already did disk brake upgrade in front. 2. Only 5 of 8 cylinders were firing. Distributor on wrong, retimed to zero, new plugs and wires. 3. Rusted exhaust full of holes (fixed). 4. Typical rusted out cab corners, rockers, and two holes in bed 5. Tires are old/hard and need refresh 6. Front end suspension needs refresh 7. Heater not working My plans are to keep it original, only fix the things that are broken and refresh the interior where needed. I will post more photos as I fix and upgrade things. Took me two days just to buff and polish the oxidation off the paint and get it to shine again. Last edited by 70sLover; 10-24-2015 at 06:04 PM. |

Very cool, original truck. Would look great with some original white steel wheels on it to offset that white top!
If you're looking to redo your seat, CarsInc.com has the correct cover. I purchased a green one for my '70 and it's spot on. Here's the link. http://carsinc.com/seat-cover-set-re...oth-10132.html Oh. and welcome! I just purchased my first old truck as well. Been a car guy before this. Really liking working on it. |

Always wanted a red interior. Get ready to get scolded for that rubber gas line.

Re: New member-70 C10 LWB "Darth Mauler"
Thanks, and agreed. Just temporary until I can do a more proper job. Any suggestions? Also I think I should get a new gas tank, the old one has some rust sediment.

Welcome to the board! Your truck looks like a good starting point.
I work in Harrison, so I have learned Cinncy over the last 5 years. So which section of Cinncy? I'm from Connersville. A bit north of Brookville IN.

Get some brake line and a good bender, take your time and you can make a nice line that hugs the block. I use copper hard wire to bend for the shape I want and use that as a template for the brake line. Coat hanger would work also... Nice truck, MOD
