I got a gmc tailgate with the 47 bed, it is missing one side piece though. I got a complete chevrolet tailgate in the deal, so I can take it off for the GMC, but then that means the chevrolet tailgate will be missing one.. and so on.

in fact, the spare tailgate I got for the 49 was missing this side too. must be a kansas thing, maybe there is some weird explanation for this missing side piece.

anyway, does anyone make and sell this piece? I have looked at LMC and top banana and classic and mar-k, only see complete gates. I also searched the archives on this forum but came up empty.

I have never seen them sold. You are probably better off finding a trashed tailgate and cutting off the side that you need. In the long run this might also be your cheapest solution.

At one time the side pieces were in someone's catalog.

Mar-K doesn't show them separate in their catalog but it wouldn't hurt to contact them and ask.

Best bet is probably what Youngrodder suggested and find one that is otherwise damaged but has that piece in good shape.
