Can I flip my transfer case?

I have a 1991 burb that I am working on...I put a 98 454 vortec in it and will be putting in a 97 4l80e tranny. I have been unsuccessful at finding a np 241c with a 32 spline for under 100 bucks. So I will use the one currently on the tranny which is electronic. Since it is a drivers side mount, can I flip it to make it work with the passenger side? I have to at least get this on the road for now and if I have to, just use 2wd. Can I do this? I know the speedo won't work.

Re: Can I flip my transfer case?

running a transfer case upside down doesn't sound like a good idea to me. Why not just install it as normal and not hook up a front driveshaft?

Re: Can I flip my transfer case?

No, you can't flip it over....at least not without a good bit of modification. In its stock form, the vent would be on the underside...and would drain all your fluid out. But, more importantly, the pickup for the pump would then be pointed to the top of the case and out of the fluid.

Re: Can I flip my transfer case?

Why not get a dime-a-dozen driver drop 241 from a 1/2 ton, swap the input/output from the pass drop 241??
