67-72 S10 Electric speedo conversion plates

Captainfab has stopped making the plates and boxes for the S10 speedo conversion because of lack of demand.

I want one and was wondering if any others would be in market. Would make conversion much easier and neater looking.

Please respond if interested.

Here is link to article that describes comversion

Thanks

Re: 67-72 S10 Electric speedo conversion plates

Good luck. I was recently in the same situation and make a post and got a half dozen people interested. That was enough to get the Captain to make another run. Get everyone interested to respond to one thread to keep everything organized. Captain does a fantastic job too, well worth the wait if you can get it.

Re: 67-72 S10 Electric speedo conversion plates

For those not familiar with this, Post links to the original threads about this so people know what your talking about. I do know these boxes are a lot of work for Captain Fab but if you can get him to do another run, they are totally worth the wait. Even though I don't need it, I would probably buy another one if he did another run. Good luck.

Re: 67-72 S10 Electric speedo conversion plates

You have at least 4 people interested now, just need a few more and you might convince the Captain to go into production again.

Guys, the best part about this piece is that it locates everything perfectly, no guesswork involved.

Re: 67-72 S10 Electric speedo conversion plates

Captainfab furnishes the plate and a dust cover box. Most of his effort must go into the box. The box is really just a dust cover.

I think I could make one of those out of old glovebox cardboard.

Would those that answered be up for just plates? I would buy 2 to get his rolling.

Trust me, you can't make this out of cardboard. Sheet metal if you are skilled, but It is worth it to get the whole package, so keep drumming up business until you can get enough orders to make the Captain happy.

Re: 67-72 S10 Electric speedo conversion plates

Has anyone contacted him to see how many is the minimum? I wouldn't have a problem paying a few dollars more to get him to make a run.

Re: 67-72 S10 Electric speedo conversion plates

Msged Captainfab - his response
Hello Jim

Sorry but not really unless I charge considerably more for the set. To keep the pieces close to the same, I need to order laser cutting for 10 sets. And even at that with the price of steel skyrocketing daily, I make still have to raise my prices on these. Plus it would likely be 4 weeks before I would be able to ship any. I work 80 hrs/7 days a week every week every month and there just is no such thing as extra time in my world. So if I have to pay for laser cutting for 10 sets and spend a couple days fabbing them plus the cost of zinc plating and only sell 4 sets, I will loose money.

Thanks
John

Re: 67-72 S10 Electric speedo conversion plates

Just to clarify things here. If I could sell 6 or more sets of the plates and boxes, I will make another run of 10.

Re: 67-72 S10 Electric speedo conversion plates

If the price is the same, I would buy 3 of them just to have for future use. This should be enough to get Captain Fab to make the run. Going to PM him to see if a deposit is required.

Hello. Depending on the price I'll take at least 2. If I can I'll take 2 of painted Speedo plates also.

Re: 67-72 S10 Electric speedo conversion plates

I see the metal box and cover, one less item for me to make from scratch
What about the decal to paint the new numbers, are those available?

Thanks
