Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

man that was close, being from Oklahoma originally, trust me full coverage is better even on old trucks, unless you got a body shop in the back yard

Re: Almost lost the 72 last night!

Hey Dave,

Glad you are able to report this. No problems in Oxford and the power did not go out which was a shock to me. It will go out for no reason at all most times.

Was it age or lightening?

Re: Almost lost the 72 last night!

Yea, the catch in all this was I just swapped rims and tires in preparation for putting her away for the winter. It was nice out earlier in the day so I wanted to get the snowblower and plow readied for the white stuff so tinker away I went. Got dark and late so in I went, completely not even thinking of where I parked the truck.

The tree has seen better days and had dropped some small stuff on and off so I knew not to park there! I consider myself lucky on this one!!!!! Damage was limited to the windshield and the cowl. Few dingers in hood (I have a replacement painted just never got it on .....)

Got home early and got it cleaned up, now I have a HUGE pile of kindling and some good fire wood, should keep the shop toasty for a few days.........

Hey Dave, Hate to see the damage done by the winds and rain. Are you going to replace the windshield yourself or have someone do it for you?

I was able to run out to the 2 glass shops in town to "interview" the installers. The first one has no problem doing it as they still employ an "old timer". They are currently verifying glass, trim and weatherstrip manufactures. The second one didn't even want to touch it !!!!

And this is what I came home to last night..........ugh !!!!! Time to get chain saw back out.

Re: Almost lost the 72 last night!

Had the same thing happen to mine about 20 years ago. Same weather situation (Possible tornados), and my four year old daughter comes to me and says "Daddy, there's golfballs hitting your truck". All the damage was one dimple in the hood, one on the lead edge of the roof, and a 1 inch crack in the windshield. Then the glass heated up the next day. Can you say spider web. Glad you didn't get any more damage than that. Great looking truck, just keep it away from those pesky Rust Moths. (I grew up in the Thumb)

Re: Almost lost the 72 last night!

Cowl tag: "Paragould, AR," about an hour + drive away from me to the East. Funny how these old trucks get around. Lotsa folks from Paragould come over here as "weekenders" for the Lakes.

Glad your truck's OK. Coulda been a LOT worse. We had a lot of gusty wind & extra warm weather that day & I figured somebody was gonna get it from that fast-moving weather front.

I just took down two big hickory trees earlier this week that died this Spring, because I could just see them coming down onto my shop building this Winter.

You know, I worried about someone's truck being hit. I even prayed it wouldn't happen to anyone.

Re: Almost lost the 72 last night!

Sorry about the truck Dave. I'm glad that the damage was limited to the front glass. Would you please keep us posted on how the replacement goes. I'm going to (hopefully) need to have my front glass put in this coming summer. I'd be curious to know who you end up going with and how well they did. Thanks!
