Tires

Hey everyone, I'm looking to buy a set of tires for our 66 k20 and would like to know how big we can go without any issues. It has a stock suspension and the springs were reworked at a local spring shop. It has a dana 60 front axle and a 14 bolt ff rear. Also what size rims would you recommend, just want to make sure the rims clear the calipers on the dana 60. Thanks, pictures would be great too. Evan396

Back when I first got my 62 suburban, it had 35s on it. Was a 1/2 ton, stock suspension, had 8" rally's. I put 33s on it, which I think looked the best. 3/4 tons sit lil higher, so 35s would prolly fit. Wheel wells are huge on these trucks, so shouldn't rub. Any 16" rim and above would fit a 60, even 15" if want to grind lil bit on the calipers.

Thanks b454rat, just going through the 4x4 gone wild post to get some idea what they would look like. Would like to see if anybody has pictures of 33 or 35" tires on there 1966 k20s with stock suspension . Thanks evan396

If it were mine I would be looking at some 70/80 16 inch 8 lug wheels and some BFG KM3's in the 7.5 16 size. Would be sweet on a stock height '66 IMO.

When I first swapped the D60 rear and 44 front into my 63, the suspension was still original. Id get a little bit of rub on the lower front edge of the fender when loaded with say a yard of drain rock. Otherwise no rubs. Was running 35 x 12.50 x 16.6 BFG MTs.

When I swapped the 60 for the 14B rear and changed the springs, I may have lost 1/2" max but have no rubbing at all now. Recently got a new set of Cooper Discover S/T Maxx (34.5") on 16" x 10 Steelies. No rubbing on these either.
