How low can you go?
Interested in seeing how far a 79 short box can go without having to cut into the bed. Riding on stock height wheels.
Any pics? |

I've just measured up for flipping the axle on mine (@5-6") and the chassis rails will need notching although the diff shouldn't hit the bed. Shock stiffness will also be a factor. I must confess to having no idea of stock tyre size as mine has been fitted with 31 x 10.50 -15's by a previous owner.

Thanks J1mmy. I am looking at a 79 and it's already lowered on rallies, looks to be stock size rubber. I am thinking it would pretty good bagged, but if I get a truck, I need to make sure the bed floor isn't adjusted.

I love my 79 - it's rough n ready but a rarer sight over here than the earlier and later model trucks. How has it been lowered up to this point? Leaf removal? Shackles?
Edit - I'm guessing that stock tyre size is 235 75 15 as per most 1/2 tons of the era? |

It was done with a flip kit in the rear and spindles up front 3/4

This is with a 27.5" rear tire size
This is the absolute lowest you can go without the rearend hitting the bed floor. Has a bolt in c-notch with bagged suspension. Before bags with static drop & same c-notch. |
