Front Parking Lights Now Break Lights

So I put my 69 Suburban in the shop to have the transmission looked at and when I got it back the two front orange parking lights go on when I press the break pedal! They are in sync with the rear break lights...
And - my Suburban will never be at that shop again, so don't ask if I've contacted the shop about this

Thanks in advance!

Re: Front Parking Lights Now Break Lights

what exactly did they touch while looking at the trans? try to retrace their steps to find something out of place.

I once bought a 76 Trans Am with the same problem. turned out that the P.O. had crammed an 1156 bulb in one of the brake light sockets that called for an 1157 bulb. the single stud base contact would jump the brake circuit with the tail light circuit. this made the front parking lights come on with the brakes.

check simple stuff first then look for missing grounds.

An 1157bulb can fail in a way that causes this problem. If all the bulbs are OK, I would take a close look at the headlight switch... Sounds like a coincidence with the tranny shop work..not likely their fault.

Re: Front Parking Lights Now Break Lights

Thanks, but I honestly have no idea what the shop did except pull the trans and sit it in a corner for over two months...then put right back in.
I think I found a guy, in the Houston area, that can work on the wiring in these old suburbans.
Thanks again

Re: Front Parking Lights Now Break Lights

Maybe they have smashed the 4 wires to the rear of the vehicle between the cross member and the frame. Causing them to touch and now its back feeding to the switch and to the parking lights?
