Re: check code

Went to have codes read and the knock sensor code came up.

They said it is on the side of the engine. What is this sensor and can anyone tell me which side it is on and if it is hard to replace? I bought it and want to replace it this weekend.

This is on a 2002 Tahoe 5:3

Thanks for the help.

Re: check code

My '00 Tahoe with 5.3 said the same thing. The parts guy pulled up the computer pic of the diagram, sold me the sensor and said it was an easy fix. Just as a thought, I bought a Haynes manual, too. The knock sensor is NOT on the side of the block as was told. It is actually under the manifold. Also, there are two of them. (mine said #1 bad) I went to a place to price having it done, for times sake, and found that they want $250 just for LABOR!!! If any one has any help with this, let me know as well. I am fairly good with things, but with electronic stuff, I am a newbie....

Sorry cant help any more than that. Looks like we might be in the same boat here....
