Miniature Machine Shop

My wife works at a school with a lady named Esther; Esther's dad, Mr Randazzo, is a retired cabinet maker and, as such, is quite the woodworker.

His specialty is what I would call "kinetic art": wooden creations with gears and pullies that spin and move, entrancing the viewer. They look a lot like clock mechanisms, only with the inner workings exposed.

He brought one of his latest creations to the school today for the kids to view, this one being a miniature machine shop. Powered by a small steam engine (running on compressed air for today's purposes) the tools are fully functional, as he demonstrated by cutting a thin shim on the jig saw. He made everything you see here from scratch, including most of the (non standard) fasteners.

Most women like the strong, silent type… Fortunately for me, my wife prefers the out-of-shape, mouthy type.
