What drop do I have?

So I picked up a 1974 C10 short bed style side. Got a nice stance to it but I'm not sure what the drop is so I have a few questions!

I can see the rear has a rear shackle extension with new ubolts and shocks, springs look stock.

The front has new shocks and springs but didn't notice much more that was new... the spindle might have been newer looking.

NOTE: I just dragged it 15 hours one way home so I really haven't got in to it yet and I'm a little banged up from driving straight thru so I could have missed ALOT!

How do I measure the spindle to tell what drop it has if any? Also could the front drop be a combo of spindle and spring?

Same for the rear, I can easily measure the extension but don't know how to convert that to drop.

Here is the truck what I picked it up

Re: What drop do I have?

tell us what size wheels you have that will help (those tires look pretty low profile), measure from the ground to the bottom of the fenders right in the center line of the wheel both front and rear and report those numbers, I lowered my stock truck so I can compare your numbers to mine

Re: What drop do I have?

So front measures 29" to fender rear measures 28.5" to fender. Tires are front 275/40R20 rears are 315/35R20.. so a little taller than 28" each

Front looks like they put some heat to the spring and collapsed a coil, have to say they did a good job here as both sides are spot on at 29". Spindles look stock to me.

So once I figure out the drop I'll buy a spindle drop kit and swap it out.

I live in NH so any more of a drop or less sidewall is probably not a great idea. Honestly I'll probably throw a little more sidewall at it since I'm a little old school and like a more sidewall, we'll see after I drive it a bit.

Thanks, body panels are all metal and looks to be orig minus the hood. Frame is super solid too, not wrinkles or pull marks anywhere. First vehicle I bought sight unseen off ebay too. Auction ended and I contacted the seller directly and closed the deal. Not sure why I got it so cheap, interior is very clean as well but has a baby blue dash. Also has 3 on the tree, might have been why it didn't sell.

Bumping this and adding more...

The rear is a axle over spring. So I'd guess that is a 4" minimum. Given the above measurements can anyone shed a little light? Looking to replace the front with a matching correct spindle/spring drop. Also want a sway bar for the front and rear as well and I'm guessing I need to have my drop specs and type so I can order the correct kit

Re: What drop do I have?

So this is a little embarrassing... I tore the front end down and removed the spring, printed right on the spring is "Mcgaughy's 7387 -2"

So mystery solved, -2 drop in the front. Pretty sure the rear is -4 Axle over spring.

Re: What drop do I have?

If the axles is sitting on top of leaf springs its 5/6 drop

Re: What drop do I have?

As others have said, looks like a 2 to 2.5" front drop and 4" rear drop. According to your measurements that's about the same as my truck with the same drop.

Re: What drop do I have?

I spoke to soon!!!

The drivers side front spring does have a collapsed coil!
Here is the pic

I didn’t really notice the stance being off on one side but I also didn’t take too much time before I pulled it apart

Re: What drop do I have?

Called McGaughy's and no dice on buying a single coil spring. Bought a new set and will see how she sets when I get the Drivers side back together.
