Need help with pinion angle

Need help with pinion angle

I need to measure for a one piece driveshaft but assume I should correct the pinion angle first.. This is a short wheelbase truck if it makes a difference.. I measured the angles and this is what I came up with.. At the tail shaft 4 degrees down toward the floor.. Pinion is 8 degrees up. A 12 degree difference seems extreme, have I measured wrong? Btw the truck is lowered 5/7. Spindle and springs/ springs and blocks.. Thanks for any info.

Re: Need help with pinion angle

If your tail shaft is 4 degrees down then your rear end should be 4 degrees up

Re: Need help with pinion angle

You have an 4 degree difference and as said 4 up on the rear. As for measuring length use what ever method the maker of your shaft recommends, Most are rear yoke where the caps bolt on to the trans housing seal. they will also need the stick out of the tail shaft and spline count. Also the trans type and if its a slip yoke or a bolt on yoke. If your going to use a slip and it was a bolt on they need to know that as well.

If it's a trailing arm rear you can get 4* shims at Carl's racing. That's what I had to do and I have a 4/6 with springs and spindles
