Re: 1998
I don't believe that it did. I have read where others have converted those to rear disc, but I don't recall them ever being equipped with them at the factory.

Re: 1998
98 was the last year for this body style (in 1/2 ton version), and these trucks never came factory equipped with rear discs. 99 was a model change and those did come with rear discs. They stuck with discs until 06-07 and went back to drums.

Re: 1998
See I heard that the begining of 99 was still obs and then they changed. Doesn't make any sense to me either. Are the rear diffs the same in 99 as in 95-98 as in width.

Re: 1998
GMT400 & GMT800 1500 trucks where sold side by side in '99.
No GMT400 1500 truck ever had rear disc from the factory. |

The Silverado Classic and Sierra Classic trucks were carryovers sold alongside the new bodystyle Silverado and Sierra trucks for the '99 model year, but aside from the new names, they were the exact same trucks as their '98 counterparts, including rear drum brakes. The GMT-800 trucks had rear discs from '99-'04 before switching back to drums in '05. |

Re: 1998
I don't think much of the parking brake set up in the 99 and up disc brake model. The thing is disc brakes are overkill for the rear anyway. The drum brakes work fine for me.
