Skyjacker the best?

Ive had rough country years ago on a 79 and it was brutal. Now Im looking into Skyjacker. Just want to hear some thoughts on people who have them and others on what your ride is like? I know Im not going for caddy but I dont want it jarring a turd outta me either. And for the price difference between others they best be damn good.

Thoughts on ride? This will be 6" springs with 56" rears. No offroading. No daily driver either but will more or less be used a truck is intended for. I will also be using airbag assist in rear for any towing if need be.

Re: Skyjacker the best?

i got skyjacker 8" springs in my crew, with that height, there is no ride except for the pressure in your tires...
as for durability-been on the truck almost 10 yrs & it sits at the same height as when i put them in, no sag, no lean, even after driving over a mercury topaz...

Re: Skyjacker the best?

I dislike my 4" crap-jacker Softrides! Stretched and sagged after the first bump. They are too soft, maybe they are good for the rear of a car! I will be replacing at the earliest convenience. For me it was a regrettable mistake. I cannot say enough ornery things about them! I will toss them into the trash as soon as their off my axle, I'm almost certain that will make me feel better!

Why a 6" lift if you aren't leaving pavement?

Re: Skyjacker the best?

A lift is perfectly fine for aesthetics, I like trucks with a mild to moderate lift; especially these older 4X4s they look really tough with a lift.

I've lifted a few trucks that saw little more than dirt roads. I've had plenty of off road machines with no lift! But we always ran for speed in the desert. But now I just buy things to putt around. I just sold a 650r that I never raced, just used it to putt in the desert. GPS 103mph(geared for flat out)putt-putt.... don't tell the wife!

Re: Skyjacker the best?

Yea I lift my trucks cause it makes me feel like a got a huge pecker. Aside from that these truck are meant to be lifted or slammed. Stock sucks unless your 90 years old and by then your prolly in a Buick anyways.

Re: Skyjacker the best?

If you want a super nice ride, put a set of 52s up front. Not that hard to do. Might need to get a longer set of shackles and a zero rate to get 6" but will ride like a caddy....

Re: Skyjacker the best?

Stock works nicely if I ever have to haul stuff. High makes getting stuff in the bed a PITA, low makes the toolboxes on my utility bed too low. Mine's a Camper Special so it isn't exactly low.

Agreed. Add a set of 63" springs from a 3/4 ton in the rear as well. Still able to work like a truck and have more modern ride quality.
