Progress!

I do have an engine stand you could borrow if you need. I know it's a ways to come get it, but if you're heading to Rochester?

Appreciate it but I'll just drill the front plate through the frame.

Re: 1950-ish Chevy 3100 Build

Went over this afternoon before work just to drill the plate. Got the engine about as dead center in the frame as possible and drilled. Wasn't easy but it got done.

Now the question will be how precise the holes needed to be and whether or not I'll have to widen them to compensate for being off.

So here's what the truck looks like right now.

Engine is mounted. T5 with plate is mounted. Need a water pump adapter bracket I am waiting on. You can see the drive shaft laying on the floor. It's from a '92 Astro and is a perfect fit, literally. I'll set the pinion this week and get the rear welded up.

Then I just need to get some tires for it and it'll be ready for the body, brakes and clutch.

Looking good!

What are you looking for in tires? Wheels too? Six hole disc brake style obviously.

No, I put discs on the front and a Blazer rear axle with discs, too. But I have the wheels. Just need some decent but used and cheap radials. I'm thinking 235 75r15's would be tall and not too wide?

Re: 1950-ish Chevy 3100 Build

This hasn't been exactly step by step because of all the in-between time spent learning the intricacies of what I'm doing. But here's the truck today with the engine mounted and the T5 in place. The engine is cleaned up, the water pump adapter plate and early pump are in place, and ready for paint. Oh, and got some great tires.
