81 C10 Trailering Special.

Hi guys, has anyone ever seen these badges on an 81 C10?? I haven't...and it doesn't come up on any searches. It seems like it's an odd-ball. I've heard of camper special stuff but not this. It's a half ton with 1 inch wide rotors...which I just measured to order a 5/6 drop kit. But I have nevers seen another "Trailering Special". Any thoughts/info would be great! Thanks!!! Now how do I add pics...i have pics of the badges? Lol. Fak. Nvmd...found it.

Re: 81 C10 Trailering Special.

Also, I just had a bad fire while welding in the drivers side floor pan.

I bought a new interior, and was in the Process of removing it and then. I noticed the driver's side floor panels rested out. So I bought a new one to replace the old rusty metal. But then I had a fire while welding in the new floor Pan. One step forward 10 steps backwards.

It turns out after checking the damage that only the tail light harness was burned through. So I can keep moving forward once I fix that up but.. I wasn't planning on to have to do that.

Anyways, the new interior will look great and the 5/6 Drop kit will have it sitting right ...but I'm just wondering if Anyone has seen a "trailering special" truck before ..seems kind of a weird truck.

Re: 81 C10 Trailering Special.

I was looking into GVWR's for these trucks the other day, I think the 11,000 rating was reserved for C30s (perhaps dually only?). The K's dropped down to 7-8,000 lb ratings due to the extra weight from the transfer case and other 4x4 parts. I think C20's were rated for 9000lb.

What axles does your C10 have? I have heard of "heavy halfs" but 11,000 seems way higher than what a heavy half would have been rated for.

Re: 81 C10 Trailering Special.

Somebody surely added those...crooked I may add. As willam mentioned, those would be for a 1 ton. I believe that the badging part of the package ended in '80 as I dont recall ever seeing the "new front end" on any Camper or Trailering Specials. Lorne
