56 gmc hydramatic v8 (pontiac) swaps

hey guys, im looking at 2 trucks as a package deal one is a v8 hydramatic truck and has the 316 pontiac motor in it. im wondering if anyone knows if a later ('58 up) ponitac motor will bolt in place of the stock motor? i know where there i can get a hold of a 455 out of a station wagon for hauling it off so i'd like to know if it would fit without too many mods because i don't want to really tear the truck up or do anything that can't be easily reversed.
thanks,
chris

shouldn't be too hard, you just need to fab/buy motor mounts and a tranny mount. there is plenty of room under the hood.

if it's not a museum piece go for it. knew a guy that had a nice 400 ram air motor in a 57 gmc and used to really surprise lots of people. the coolest thing was the 400 turbo was shifted by the stock hydromatic shifter on the column.
