First time driving my 71 gmc in a month

I haven't been driving my 71 gmc as of late because I've been more focused on my 07 Sierra 5 speed. Well thats at the body shop getting rust fixed so I am now stuck driving my 71. Wich is fine. But after not driving it for a while I notice some thing that I must of just got used to like the lack of leg room even with my bucket seats thare is not much. How hard the brake pedal is do to manual brakes and and no power steering always gets me at first. But the biggest th im bg I notice is how bad the roof rust has gotten. I'm just going to run it and not fix it but in a year or so thare probably won't be much inner roof left. I also notice how bouncy and ruff it rides. I have new shocks for it so I just need to put them on. I think not driving it for awhile was a good thing so I can relearn the pickup. O the shifter feels terrible compared to my 07s.

Re: First time driving my 71 gmc in a month

I know that feeling every time I drive my 67, it's no comparison to the newer trucks I've had through the years. I did improve my 67 plan jane by adding stock options from a 72 donor truck, which made a big difference, power disc brakes, power steering, sway bar which was a very nice improvement, new springs on all four corners, along with everything new in the front suspension, along with new shocks, also new USA trailing arms and bushings, u bolts, tires , refurbished bench seat and other things with still more to go, like AC being on the big wish list. All that made it a much better ride then the plan jane it was and loved, but still no comparison to the newer trucks I've have had and my now 2018, only difference is, I'll never get rid of my 67 C10. There's many ways to make it drive much more nicer with the market parts out there, but I like to try and keep a stock look. As of the rusting roof that too will be the one of many other challenges on my sons 67 C10 truck.
