Storing an auto transmission

Hi:
I got a good deal on a low mileage 4L60e transmission but I don't have time or all other parts at this point. What is the best way to store it? The fluid was drained. Will keeping it this way hurt the internal?
Thanks

Re: Storing an auto transmission

Keep moisture out of the trans, store it in a dry place. They sell plastic plugs that fit on the output shaft/tail housing and leave the TC in the front of the trans. best of luck!!

Re: Storing an auto transmission

i have a fresh reman 4l80-e that i had the local trans builder tear down and swap the tail shaft for me . he said for over 10 years old on a shelf in the shipping container it looked perfect inside .

so like said shelf it / plug it up / keep it fairly dry . when you do fire it up let it run a bit with the wheels off the ground after the fluid level is up to the mark and cycle it threw the gears no load on it . help get the clutches soaked in fluid if they drain off to much . otherwise run it .
