Re: What Tools Do I NEED?

Nice setup!! I couldn't use something like that toolbox, though. I would need something that has offroad tires on it.

See, I don't have a garage or even a paved driveway to work in/on. I do most of my work in the grass!!

Something to add here, if anyone needs the specialized pulley tool for the power steering pump, I have it. Anyone can use it anytime they want for the cost of shipping. And since it's less than a pound in weight and about the size of a soda can, I can't imagine shipping would be more than the $35 the cost new,......

[EDIT] The tool also includes the special tool to put the pulley back ON as well...

Re: What Tools Do I NEED?

Thanks Shane and Mickey D! Yes, it is addictive isn't it. I've been trying to buy the craftsman stuff on sale with my card. I just got the pry bar set normally $40 for $20.

Re: What Tools Do I NEED?

Be careful with that Sears card ... last time I checked their interest rate was almost 20% ... seriously.

Don't forget eBay .... LOTS of Craftsman stuff on there ...

No, not a Sears card, the craftsman club card.

Re: What Tools Do I NEED?

Inspect the large prybar from time to time... I've seen new ones that looked kinda weak, and had a buddy slice his cheek open when his broke, 13 stitches.
Looks like a mighty fine start you got there too. Don't be afraid to go to Harbor Freight... I think there's one up on your end of town, somewhere on 161 I think... there's one 2 miles from my house too. As long as you don't get anything that will take a lotof pressure, then they seem to hold up OK... my rule with HF tools is low stress only... look at it and figure how it'll make you bleed if it breaks. Then make a judgement call. I've had nothing but good luck keeping this mindset as I walk around there getting stuff. (leather gloves for a buck... you CAN'T go wrong!)

Re: What Tools Do I NEED?

I agree with 'Horn Man ... stuff like:

3 pc. Step Drill kit For $10 bucks you can't go wrong.
I have a couple sets of these for over 2 years and have yet to wear them out.

Mechanic's Gloves

Latex Gloves - 100 count

6 Ton jackstands

Flourescent Work Light

4" Magnetic Parts tray I have a half dozen of these things all over the shop.

They have TONS of oddball type stuff that you would only use maybe once a year ... no need for the high dollar version.

With that being said, don't waste your money on their sandpaper, drills, or saw blades.
