I need to bump this thread because I never did see finished pics of this setup.

Where's the finished product?

Re: Back-half, Corvette C4 in 69

I am loving the idea of a fully C4 suspended longbed. I know it's about $8000 more than my current budget, but a budget is only a "guideline", right?

Re: Back-half, Corvette C4 in 69

Well, definitely not the 'finished pics', but it's on its way to getting done again.
Hopefully the rear suspension will be all buttoned up next week and the truck will be rolling around again.

So this will be in kit form soon, correct?

<edit> That's the sweetness right there.

Re: Back-half, Corvette C4 in 69

Nathan, I thought 4-links have to be perpendicular to the rearend? Can you take some more closeups of the front 4link mount?

thanks,
Josh

This is a little different, being that it is an independent rear suspension. I would recommend setting up a four-link, on a straight axle, with the bars perpendicular to the axle tube.

Very similar... and soon? Hopefully soon!

We've started on the back-half for a straight-axle already.

Re: Back-half, Corvette C4 in 69

I keep seeing C4 rears for $400 and less, it's so tempting! One guy had a full front and rear for $800.That would make for the ultimate setup!

<edit> Question about the back half. Looking at the step-up on the rear, is that just boxed all the way around where the joint is (from up to level)?

How much lift do you get with this? What is the ride height set up at?

I want it!

This set-up runs a 2:1 ratio... with nearly 9" of travel. It rides at 5" and will go all the way down!

Porterbuilt, tell me you took lots of in progress photos for me! That is awesome. I want that for a tech story. Nice work. Porterbuilt, you also owe me a press release for the front crossmember.

Re: Back-half, Corvette C4 in 69

Here's a few more updated pics. Turns out I will be offering the back-halves as weld-in only. The bolt-in isn't going to work quite as I had intended.

Re: Back-half, Corvette C4 in 69

Ballpark figure on the weld in kit with shockwaves? I would be welding it in anyway, just because I'm like that. Can't wait to see it with the bed on.

It didn't really 'stump' me per se.... the way that it would have to bolt-in makes it difficult to make the transition from stock frame to back-half attractive. I am EXTREMELY picky, and it just won't look right to me. I already have too much time invested in attempting to make the bot-in transition look appealing to me, I KNOW how to make the weld-in look right in my eyes, and I just don't have the time right now to continue battling the bolt-in beast! The weld-in makes it easy to tie in the back-half in an attractive manner.

Re: Back-half, Corvette C4 in 69

yeah, I could see how the transition from stock frame to 2x4 tubing (i assume) with a bolt on bracket could be challenging. With that said, I'm willing to bet that people who can't weld are willing to compromise looks for the ability to DIY with a bolt in setup.

Buck up Nathan!!! j/k
