01 Blazer Fuel Injection Spider

This Blazer has 110,000 miles and it died in traffic the other day. Now its not starting, but it tries.

I tested the fuel pump, replaced filter and have 50psi fuel pressure. When you try and start it, you get a strong smell from the tail pipe.

Is there a way to test this FI spider?

Re: 01 Blazer Fuel Injection Spider

Just to add something, I did pull one plug and it was dry, but smelled strong of gas.

Fuel pressue should be 60-66 psi.

Check for spark at all cylinders. Distributor caps are really common on these.

Re: 01 Blazer Fuel Injection Spider

I replaced the spider and that solved the issue.

Re: 01 Blazer Fuel Injection Spider

I'm curious.... did you have the original style poppet injectors and replace them with the updated style? How hard was the job?
I have a 2000 blazer that I don't know what it has for injectors.

Sorry for not replying sooner, I didnt know your message was here. I was searching for another issue on the Blazer and saw your post.

The job was pretty easy. I did the same thing on my 97 Tahoe which is the same thing with two more cylinders. I went with the updated style and did the same on the Tahoe. I did see a performance increase on the Tahoe, but couldn't really tell on the Blazer. The hardest part was taking the fuel lines off at the back of the engine. Other than that, just watch what goes where. I used some tie straps to keep the wire harness out of the way. There are other components attached to the manifold so watch for those.

Feel free to PM me if you need more info.
