1969 Panel .How much can I lower it with just cutting coil springs? Not looking for dropping much.Maybe 2 to 3" max and not dead set on that much. Doing it on cheap for now. RACE car not finished and it barely comes in second to breathing.LMAO All money is allotted to it.

You can cut half a wrap off the front and get it down a couple of inches. Problem is you cant cut the back they way they are wound. The only drop springs for suburban/panel are 4"

As PGSigns said, you can easily cut the front springs. I think the common drop is 2" per coil and you would be really pushing it to cut up to 2 coils, which would give you 4". I have 2 coils cut on mine and they ride fairly well (for an old truck) but you do have to cut out the bump stops for a 4" spring drop, so it's not for everyone. In the rear, your best bet is to just spend the 80 bucks on 2" drop block and longer U-bolts and you are done without messing with the springs.

Cut between 1/2-1 coil in front for a mild drop. For the rear, I would opt for a small drop spring & 1-1.5" lowering blocks. Lowering blocks in truck-arm suspensions allow drop w/o affecting shock travel (which is good). 2" drop spring & lowering block combo should keep things level vs the front drop.

I am buying a Beltech 3 inch drop front spindle and would like to know what size rear spring would I need to level the truck out?

Typical front to rear rake is a 2" difference. Measure what you have now to know for sure.

Not to hijack but I have a question about cutting coils. I have a set of -2" front and -4" rear coils which I expect to set the rig level. I would like to maintain a 2" rake so my question is can I just cut a wrap off of the front coils? The reason I ask is because I haven't heard of anybody cutting lowered coils so I am wondering what the result would be. -4" up front?

The potential problem is the spring becoming so short it can (& will) become unseated when the suspension extends. Not a good thing to have them moving around....

That's a good thought that I hadn't considered. I had assumed that the unsprung length of the lowering coils would be the same and use a different rate to lower.

Typically, they're physically shorter.

I am uber disappointed! I purchased a pair of front lowering springs only to find that they were either cut OE coils or the aftermarket manufacturer copied a cut coil. WTH? I could have done this myself...

I was expecting that they would have had a different wire size to change the rate and a closed tail. I could have literally cut a coil from the stock ones and saved the purchase.
