Flowmaster delta 40 question
1970 C10
350 cu 350 auto Last June I finished the restoration of this truck and got it on the road This year I plan on doing more engine work and headers with dual exhaust. I want a nice sound but not too too loud. Research I did seems like the flowmaster delta 40 might be a good fit. Anyone running them and give their thoughts? I like the tone of the flowrmaster over the magnaflow but any input appreciated. Going to have custom 2 1/2" system installed Thanks! RRM

Re: Flowmaster delta 40 question
I have a buddy who swears by the Delta Flow 44. I am doing a 2 in to 1 muffler and went with the 70, rumbles, but not too loud. Lots of videos comparing the Flowmaster line up on Utube.

Re: Flowmaster delta 40 question
Not an apples to apples comparison but I put a Delta 40 on my S10 with the 4.3. Lots of people love the sound and ask if I have a small block in it, but the drone at highway speeds is bad. I may do a J pipe to see if it helps. I had the same issue with my GTO but they were 50 series. I went with glass packs on my Burban. Much louder outside but way quieter inside. No cool Flowmaster sound either.

Also a lot of them with catalytic converters which alter sound a lot. Thanks for the info. I check into the 44's FYI. I hardly ever take this truck on highway so drone not a big deal at highway speeds. , although it's as smooth as my 06 sierra running at 60 mph. Mostly just cruise around the city and cruise ins. Thanks for the info Mark

Re: Flowmaster delta 40 question
I have them on a basic crate 350, they are fine, I also have them on a stock 396, on the 396, the drone is getting old.

Re: Flowmaster delta 40 question
I have a custom bent 3" dual exhaust that exits behind the rear axle, with a X-over pipe in front of the flowmaster 44 3" mufflers. The outlets point down to the ground behind the axle at a 45deg angle in the center of the bed about 2' in front of the rear bumper. No drone and I can have a comfortable conversation in the cab at highway speed.
I am running a highly modified 396BB, so my sounds will be different, but if you go to a good shop who will do the work needed to bend up a quality exhaust system, with proper planning you can enjoy just about any muffler you choose to put under you truck.

Re: Flowmaster delta 40 question
I have them on my gmc. they,ve been on the truck for 15 years. I use summit headers and 2.250 pipes out behind the rear tires. I like them the don't drone at highway speed, they do sound a bit rumbly. a buddy says when I pull up in front of his house he can hear me coming. LOL

Re: Flowmaster delta 40 question
When I ran a small block in my truck, I used flowmaster 40s on a true dual 2.25" exhaust. My only complaint was the horrible drone I had between 35 and 40mph.
I run Magnaflows on my 292 now and with an H pipe and that drone is gone but now I have one at 55mph. What gives?

Re: Flowmaster delta 40 question
Don't know if you are planning on beefing up your engine and maybe you have already but on a stock 350 the headers wont do much for you as the stock rams exhaust manifolds with a 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 duals with an H or X pipe will work well with whatever muffler you choose.
