Emergency Flasher button

My emergency flasher button is broken off clean @ the column. All the reproduction ones ive seen are different (black, and the design is different).

I can get one out of a junkyard, but the hastle of pulling the steering wheel running from wasps etc is a pain, and it'll probably be brittle (40 years old).

Does anyone reproduce the red style emergency flasher button?

I have a pic but cant find my card reader right now. Its the button on the right of the column in front of the shifiter lever.

Thanks

Re: Emergency Flasher button

I posted the same question a couple of months ago b/c I have the same problem with my '68 FLASHER switch. Unfortunately no one reproduces these for our trucks. Hopefully someone will eventually b/c I would definitely buy one.

Re: Emergency Flasher button

This one from Manes Truck Parts looks to have the correct red Knob... but you have to buy the whole turn signal switch to get it...

Re: Emergency Flasher button

I installed a new type one in my 68 with no problems. the plug for the wires is diffrent but it has a adapter in the kit that will plug into the stock plug. I spliced mine off the old switch and then got to looking at it and I could have just pushed the pins out and swaped out the ends.

Mine's broken off too. I'm probably just going to buy the whole turn signal switch with the red hazard light switch from Rock Auto.

Nope. It's part of the turn signal switch.

Thanks for the link. Glad someone finally reproduces the right one for the 67-68. Only difference I see is that it says HAZARD whereas mine says FLASHER...well it actually says FL now, but that's no big deal. Thanks again.

EDIT: Just found one on eBay that is an NOS switch. Seller wants $60. Too steep for a switch to me though even if it is NOS.

I had the same problem with mine.
It was broke and I was switching everything over to "Billet".
I had everything switched over to Billet,EXCEPT the Broken 4 Way Flasher Button.
Had to have my Mechanic change out the Cam Gear/Switch in the Column,
(the turn levers were shot too).
Once it was changed, it actually had the fitting in the Switch for the "Screw-In",
type of button, (which the one I happened to have was Billet).
Worked out great in the end.

Is this what you're looking for? $5 to cover shipping and the hassle of going back to the PO and it's yours! I actually used to change these out to the screw in kind back when I was rebuilding tilts all the time, don't know how many I threw away.

Well that's like asking if a lightbulb is about to burn out! But it seems relatively strong, or un-brittle, if that's a word? PM sent.

Also, I just want to let you guys know what you're getting yourselves into. This is NOT designed to be a serviceable part. That doesn't mean it cannot be done, but it isn't going to be a simple bolt on deal. You'll most likley need to remove the turnsignal switch from the column, so you can work on it. Once out, you'll need to remove the two spring steel pieces on the right side, and then pull the top plastic piece of the switch off (the part that moves to make the switch work) There's 2 plastic tabs that hold it on. Then remove the little spring that spring loads the hazzard knob, it's on the bottom, you'l see it. Once that's out of the way, you'll need to get a small screwdriver and pry the OUTER metal tangs (that hold the hazzard knob on) (there are 2 inner tabs, but they are hard to remove and usually break, so don't mess with them) away from the switch. then remove the broken part. Reinstall the new one and reverse the procedure. It's not as hard as it sounds, but I did just want to make you guys aware.

Re: Emergency Flasher button

I don't work for these guys or sell stuff for them, I'm just passing on info from one of my catalogs. I found the complete switch ( w/red hazard knob- pn-67-066052) in my Truck Shop catalog for $34.00. pg.48. I have ordered from these guys before and was very impressed with the quality. I'll be ordering the new switch by the end of the week, I'll let everyone know how it comes out.
www.TruckandCarShop.com 1-800-243-8947 They are out of Orange Cal. They sent me a free catalog.

Re: Emergency Flasher button

Bumping, now its 6/15/18.
My '69 is one of those where the previous owner jerry-rigged everything. There is a screw through what's left of the red button. I tried it out for the first time today, it would not turn off, had to unplug the flasher thing off the fuse block.
I looked at the LMC online catalog, is the turn signal unit part of this, or what's the latest?

The flasher is part of the turn signal switch. If it were mine to do, I'd just buy the whole switch. All the other parts are old too, right?
