Early Dash swap into 1987 v3500

I have a new project truck. Its a 1987 V3500. I am doing an almost total restoration and I am already going to replace the gauges, bezel and dash pad no matter what.
My question is can I buy the 73-80 components (bezel, pad, and gauges) and bolt them into the the 87 dash subframe with minimal issues?
I like the flatter look of the earlier dash and since Im already replacing everything either way, I would rather have the early dash.

Yes no problem at all , as long as you have all the pieces from that style of dash.

Re: Early Dash swap into 1987 v3500

The dash pad will fit with some minor trimming/adjusting.

The cluster will not be a direct bolt in. 78-86 are interchangeable(if you don't have cruise) but 87-90 will not swap(they have the VSS mounted to the back of the cluster)

The bezel will not be a direct bolt in. The 77 had the wiper switch mounted on the dash behind the bezel. your 87 has it on the turn signal stalk. The bezel will physically bolt in, but it will look goofy with a hole where the wiper switch was.
