help starting a 72 C10

I inherited a 72 C10 longbed from a friend who passed away. He has messed up the wiring really bad as he wired a homemade alarm system and he wired a second battery and switches everywhere. How can I hotwire this truck to get it started by bypassing all the stuff he did? Thanks Rick

I would start by removing the alarm system and everything that goes with that.

It looks like your friend's plan of preventing hot-wiring is working. I think you would have to trace all the wires, and figure out how his wiring compares to the original wiring, and toggle the switches to appropriate positions or eliminate them. Somebody trying to steal the truck would presumably not have ample time to figure all that out and get it started before somebody walked outside with a shotgun or turned the dogs loose. :-)
The wiring:

Re: help starting a 72 C10

It all really depends on how much work you want to do or are capable of.If all you want is to make it run you need power to + side of coil remove power from coil engine dies.and a way to activate starter S terminal on solenoid to make it crank. If you want to make it more than temporary then you can wire it thru a push button to activate starter and a off on switch for ignition with a balast resistor in the circut to coil. even better repair wiring to and from original ignition switch.
