Pic of my uncle and his new 64... in 1964 - Houston, TX followed by my re-acquisition pic of it with my brother in 2019 after it was owned by a 3rd party for 20 years.

Other pics are current restoration progress:

Interesting tidbit - the truck still had the aftermarket clip-on visor mirror with frosted blank areas to write mileages for oil change etc that my uncle installed during the 60's. Sadly, the original engine and hubcaps did not survive.

Interestingly, I found the truck only 15 miles away from my current home. My brother and I had a 1980's vintage registration receipt from our dad's archives with the VIN and after 5 years of searching for the then current owner with no luck; it came up for sale on craigslist.

Over 600 man hours of metal work to restore original cab and bed. We did have to use a few patch panels from a donor truck though. Rocker panels and floor patches had to use reproduction parts. Oh well..........

My body guy is very good.

Pic of hillbilly repair done to seat by interim owner.

Believe it or not, we were able to fabricate repairs to nearly original with listing wire and mild steel rods...even the supports with the spiral pig tails (second pic)

Of course no one will ever see the restoration we accomplished...BUT WE KNOW !!!

There's more to the truck's history. My brother sold it in 1991 and the interim owner started up a country western band.

Kick panel vent gaskets wrong size
Vent window assembly rivets are junk

Doesn't look like a whole lot of progress but the below pics show completed dash, firewall pad and floor mat. All told about 5 hours work.

Still waiting for the wiper knob and heater knob.

The good news: I am pleased to rate the rubber floor mat obtained from Brother's Truck parts at a 9-plus. It fit the contours of the floor really well and the firewall cutouts in the pedal area were nearly spot on.

The bad news: All of the OEM switches on the speedo cluster had to be slightly modified to fit the reproduction bezel. The holes were stamped about 1/16" too high resulting in the switch bodies encroaching into the bezel bend on the back side. Repro bezel is from Brother's Truck parts.

EDIT: I forgot to mention the idiot light red lenses. The originals were unusable and we used tail light repair tape to fabricate new ones. That along with a reproduction speedo lens really dressed up the dash to like new.

If you happened to notice the OEM appearing semi-flat sheen of the interior paint; we used exterior urethane base coat (which has a flat sheen) along with a special catalyst/hardener that adds only a touch of gloss along with UV protection. The steering wheel (not shown) got a couple coats of clear gloss to enhance durability.

While completing the dash wiring we discovered 2 of the fuse holder clips were missing. The previous owner had used alternate connect pins for the heater blower and radio.

Fortunately we were able to replace the clips by robbing them from the donor truck that had already contributed roof and B pillar skins along with an OEM radio and a speaker frame / mounting bracket that we modified to accommodate a new 10 ohm speaker.

We also cut out the radio mount panel from the donor's dash to replace the one in the restored dash that my brother had modified in the 80's for an aftermarket radio.

That $1,000 donor truck has really come in handy for several parts that are not reproduced as well as an assembly guide for various mounting brackets, rubber seal attachments and correct wire connections / harness routing.
