Another Vintage Air Sure Fit Question

Anyone that has had their V/A Sure Fit system installed for a while now having any problem with it? Specifically, the hoses coming through the plate that attaches to the firewall? I'm concerned about rubbing or chaffing, even though there are grommets to hold the lines. Reading through the instructions and this caught my eye. Was hoping for some positive vibes on this. Ha ha

The metal portion on mine stick through the fire wall - the grommets are a bear to get in but I don't see any concerns

I have done 2 of them. I just poked the hoses through the firewall with grommets. I kept an eye on them & never saw any problem.

Why not use the bulkhead for all four lines, then no worries. Takes more lines but gives peace of mind.

That is a nice piece and a good idea. I was just trying to utilize what I already have.

I talked to Vintage Air - will need a separate line kit if using bulkhead. Before I would go that route I would run the lines out the pass footwell- through the fender and out under the battery for the cleanest look.

Tail light filler was a pain in the ass ( per my body guy) but it turned out pretty slick - love the smooth bed line and not seeing the filler neck/cap. In hindsight my body guy could have built something cheaper he feels - the kit is pretty expensive.

Sorry that was a PIA for you. That wasn't my intention when I sold it. I just knew it was more than I wanted to take on after seeing it.

I'll take some better pics of the AC lines this evening - I was nervous as **** drilling a big hole in the firewall ....... - Ideally I would have drilled holes when it was in primer.

I'd highly consider the fenderwell route if you want a super clean look

I don't understand bulkheads. Most A/C systems fail at a joint, not the hose or the components. Adding 8 o rings sounds like a bad idea. Just my humble opinion.

I just bought a Vintage Air kit from a person who decided to sell everything he just bought for his build.
It is a kit for a non-factory AC truck. (Mine is not a factory air truck)

It came with the heater block off plate, that has the four holes in it, to pass the lines through.
My question is, can I run the lines through the fresh air vent on the passenger side, and run them behind the fender for a clean look, or do I have to go through the heater box delete panel?

Extended Power, I routed my lines that way. But used the EZ Clip lines and fittings. Also used VanNatta Fab’s trim plate. Just mocking up everything right now.

Is this what you have? These hoses were installed in 1998 except for the low side hose, which was replaced because of a leak at the fitting.

I have never liked having the hoses run into the passenger compartment, instead of running hard lines from the inside through the firewall, like Old Air has always done.

I got my fuel door off of a 1989 Chevy 1/2 ton pickup. I cut the door out of the panel and the rear bed fuel pipe cover was off of a Mazda pickup. $25 for the door and $10 for the cover. Installation was part of some minor body work before painting. I think it came out pretty good.
