Roof clearance lights

Are the wires in the headliner for roof clearance lights? (1990 Suburban)

Re: Roof clearance lights

No. they are in between the inner and outer roof skins and run down the inside of the drivers side "A" pillar along side the windshield. the wires are black (-) & white (+).
They come out behind the dash and plug into the under-dash wiring harness.
To make mine a bit different, I rewired my 2 outer lights and hooked them up to my front side marker lights so that now they flash with my turn signals on the front. Here's a multi-image pic I took with my digi-cam to illustrate what I mean. Notice that the drivers side clearance light goes out as the drivers side front turn signal flashes bright. I've gotten a quite few positive comments about it so far.

Re: Roof clearance lights

BLE- appreciate the info, great idea on the turn signals.

Are you saying that the wires are there even though the lights are not installed? IF so, is the plug installed but plugged in?

Are there recommended dimensions for installing the lights?

Thanks-
john

Re: Roof clearance lights

If you don't have them installed from the factory then no the wiring won't be there. And is was a MAJOR P.I.T.A. routing the 2 extra wires as well.
