spray wd40 or pb blaster on the shaft and busgins and spring ends, that will cure it, it should be done everyonce in a while anywas as maintenance to keep the bushins from wearing, but they dotn usually anyways, theyre pretty tough i have found..

good luck

Question

Thanks Randy but didn't this originally have grease along the pivet shaft.I'm pretty sure when I removed my clutch pedal from the assembly there was alot of grease. If I use a spay lub won't that break down the grease. Also the plastic is really worn. I could use a replacement. Any ideas where to get one new.

I have never had this problem but,if you want to upgrade the bushing to brass/bronze you can probably find one at one of the supply houses that sells machine shop tooling ect. They will usually carry stock sizes of bushings and should be able to find a suitable one.Remember to measure legnth,ID and OD. Give a couple places a call, one of them may even carry plastic bushing material.

Those plastic bushings are very thin material, I dont think a brass/bronze one
is made that thin (could be wrong).
Just took mine apart as well, mainly because
I am installing power brakes and wanted to
clean things up a bit. My old master cylinder leaked brake fluid down both the inner and outer firewall, taking paint and
all with it. There was quite a bit of
'dried' up grease in those bushings which I
will re-grease with hi-temp bearing grease.
but the bushings when removed were in really
good shape.

damn i wish i would of known that. I had to replace mine and the gm dealer and a couple of other places i went to could not find one. I ended up taking the pedal and shaft down to a machine shop and had some brass ones made and installed for about $20.
oh well live and learn.
