62 GMC 3/4 Ton Flatbed - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Picked up this 62 gmc on Saturday. 97,000 miles with original v6. Was told it ran a few years ago but the radiator is missing.

Went to a new home in January 2018.

I can't either. Going to do some small things to get it back on the road.

Pulled the old seat and gas tank out and installed a new gas tank.
Then we had a nice seat that we needed to use in something and it matched the arm rests.
One of the few options the truck has is the limited slip rear axle.

Pulled the carb off and installed a rebuilt one.
Installed new battery cables.
Installed a radiator and just waiting for new radiator hoses.

I will try and take a video when we get it running.

Today I filled up the master cylinder up and tried to get the brakes and clutch working. The clutch pumped up but the brake side is leaking.

Going to get a repair kit and gas tank sender on Saturday.

Pulled the master cylinder and decided that we might as well get a new one.
Went to classic parts and picked one up.
Got it installed and the clutch works and we have brakes on 3 corners.

Also picked up a new gas tank sender and got it installed.

Still waiting for the lower radiator hose.

Well we got some time today and got it running. We pulled the distributor cap and to our surprise the cap is like new and someone has installed a Pertronix Ignitor!! Then pulled the spark plugs and they looked good so we poured a little gas down the carb and started cranking it over and it fired right up. With a little carb adjustment it is running good.

Installed new brake hoses on the front and know we have brakes on all 4 corners.
Went to install the new rear hose and it is to short. I looked at the rear end and it still has the limited slip and 4:10 gear tags.
Also set a air cleaner on it. Need to get a filter.
