Has this NP205 lever been modified?

Has anyone seen a lever like that shown on the right side (one with more paint)?

I am trying to determine if the lever on the right has been modified. It an additional bend point in the middle of the lever. Also, the second bend from the bottom is shaped differently. Ultimately the bends make it sit closer to the rear of the truck.

It has 3991931 stamped in it which I show is correct for 71-72 trucks...which makes me think it has been modified.

If modified, it would have been more than simply bending it. If you were to straighten them both out, the one on the right would be longer, and it seems to be one continuous piece (no welds). It seems like a lot of work to go to for minimal benefit.

That's a good point. Makes me wonder then what application it is for...
