Emergency Brake question

Looking at a 67 truck that at some point had the ebrake removed. How hard is it to install an emergency brake?

Re: Emergency Brake question

I had to replace the entire system on my 65. Someone had cut the e brake cables at the drums, removed the components inside the drums, taken off all the cables, and even the handle inside. Rebuilt it all with a mix of used and repop. Didn't cost much. Works perfect.

Keep in mind you'll need pre-68 parts (67, 66, 65, etc..) - the floor pedal came in at 68, below column pull lever 67 and earlier. I assume you know all this, mentioning JUST in case, since you said you're looking at it (i.e. if not familiar with 67s, you wouldn't be the first to look for a floor pedal and think the parking brake is missing) Like I said, assume not news to you, but JUST in case

I thought floor pedals began in 69 and the 67-68 both and the hand lever below column?

Re: Emergency Brake question

I believe you all are absolutely correct - I could've sworn it was early 68 when the changeover occurred, but as I look back all the old 68 interior pics I have - they all have the pull same handle as the 67 and earlier. Thanks for correcting!
