Re: 3speed to Nv 3500 swap

Tinman, mines held up amazingly, daily driver 4.8, bone stock but tuned well, burn out when needed but over drive (5th gear) is great for our 70 mph highways, they have longgg gears but no issues... hauled a few 5imes over 1000 lbs of junk metal, full pallets of sod still held up good

Re: 3speed to Nv 3500 swap

That's great. Mine is a older one so I'm not sure if I should rebuild it first. But it sounds like a easy swap for me. Plus I like the od option.

I do have to get drive shaft shortened but I think when it’s all done it will be a nice weekend crusier

Re: 3speed to Nv 3500 swap

I just put one in last summer. 95 Nv3500, Hydraulic clutch and a new 32 spline 1310 u joint yolk. Made the x member and now converting to a short shift. Still undecided on the speedo.

That's sweet! Maybe I will make a cross member. Was it hard? That looks better the aftermarket.

I make most of my stuff, it's cheaper and better quality sometimes. The x member is 2 " tube some angle iron and 1/4" plate. I also made the inspection plate. The top pic shows the separation of one side to get it in the frame.

Re: 3speed to Nv 3500 swap

Does anyone know if I could use my stock flywheel and clutch of my 72c20? It's a 350 engine?

Re: 3speed to Nv 3500 swap

Stock flywheel, 95 chev truck clutch / pressure plate. I used a hydramatic 3speed auto from 67. Three speed stick I had was the bigger flywheel. large 11 1/2-inch or small 10 3/4-inch.
