1970 K2500 8 lug track width

Guys,

I'm looking to swap a later disc brake Dana 44 under my 1970 with drum brakes but I can't seem to find the track width on the front end. I know '73 and later are 65.8" but I would like to know what the track width on the 1970 is before I pick up a new diff. Anyone have that measurement?

No, but it shouldn't have any real bearing on the swap. The disc setup is a little wider if memory serves, but you shouldn't have any issues unless you have a REALLY tight wheel/tire clearance right now.

The added clearance to the leaf springs when the wheel is turned is usually welcome.

Re: 1970 K2500 8 lug track width

Thanks Mike C,

I know the disc front end works great on my '72 GMC K2500, but it came stock on it. I'm just trying to find out if the '70-'72 front ends are the same track width as the '73 and later so I know what I have. I can put a tape measure to either the '70 or '72 but both have aftermarket wheels and they may not have the stock offset.

I just find it curious that I can find original track width dimensions for Fords, Dodge, Jeep and '73 and later Chevy/GMC's, but I can't find track width on the '70-72 model years with 4WD.

I have many books on these trucks but can't seem to find it in them either. If anyone knows, I would love to have the dimension. Thx.
