Can a 67-69 grill be but on a 71-72

67-68 yes.
69-70 yes.
71-72 yes.

If you want a 67-68 grill on a 69-72, you will need to replace the fenders, hood, and radiator support. Same if you were to go 69-72, on to a 67-68.

Best to plan on searching for an entire front clip, then swap them as a whole if you like the 67-68 over the other years.

Chevy or GMC?

If it's a Chevy vectorit is right. If its a gmc it's way easier, grille interchanges in all years with top bar addition/deletion, fenders are the same, hoods change with Chevy 67-68 and 69-72, hood latch changes too. Minor issues like marker lights, gmc imprinted on 67 grille, and gmc emblems on later hoods.
