Wheels for my 53 3600 3/4 ton

I recently purchased wheels for my 1953 3600 3/4 ton Chevrolet pick up.
Before I did this I spent half a day at a salvage yard trying to find wheels that would fit my truck. And did not find any that would fit. Because you can't get any wheel that has more than a 4.25 inch back space. Because it will interfere with the Tie Rod End.So I took the advice of a lot of people on this forum to just check out etrailer.com! So I did and purchased the std. steel wheels, 8 lug. And I have to say that they came today. I mounted them on the truck and they DO NOT interfere with the tie rod ends!!!!!!! There is at least 3/4 to one inch space between the rim of the wheel and the tie rod end!!!! Sweet. Now I just need to get some rubber mounted on the wheels and I will be in like Flynn!!!!!!! So happy!!!!

Here you go guy's. My truck has a set of Dextar wheels with tires mounted on them. They are Kenda Radial Klever A/P 215-85-R16 I think they look real good.

Also have a picture of the tie rod end and the wheel clearance. I know it doesn't look like it in the picture, but there is and inch of clearance.

Re: Wheels for my 53 3600 3/4 ton

dsraven, Well, I thought I would mount a seat behind the cab in the box, for extra passengers. Like a rumble seat. But I'm gonna call it a rumble box. No just kidding. Sometimes I crack myself up too!!!! Ha Ha!!

Thanks, It has the usual rot on the cab corners and on the box and some on the fenders. I'm gonna fix them as best that I can. This truck will be my daily driver. Not a show truck.

That's more clearance than I have with my E250 wheels. I may be able to get my finger between the wheel and tie rod.

Anyhow, she looks good. It's amazing how some shiny wheels and new shoes make an old girl look good.
