VIN numbers

I'm posting this here for a friend. Can some one tell me where on a 59 Chevy 1/2 ton truck the VIN numbers are located?

Re: VIN numbers

On the cab, drivers side door post. And on the frame rail near the steering box.

Re: VIN numbers

Give him this link https://www.gmheritagecenter.com/doc...olet-Truck.pdf
scroll down to the Pfd page 33 of 83 and it shows the vin locations and what every thing means.

Re: VIN numbers

Also, should be stamped on top of the frame on the drivers side, right about where the drivers butt would be seated, only visible with the cab removed, or if lucky with a inspection mirror.

Re: VIN numbers

I'll try to get a photo of my buddy's frame in that spot under the driver's butt when I go on a test drive in my new to me ot daily driver tomorrow. He has his frame sitting out where it is easy to get to with the camera.

I know that the state patrol inspection station that I take rigs to be inspected at knows where every vin number in existence is located. They take your rig off into a secret room with a hoist and go over it and can tell you things you never knew about your rig when they are done.

Re: VIN numbers

Just wondering if you had any luck finding the vin # on the frame under the cab?

Re: VIN numbers

I'll have to run back down there. The frame was under a foot of snow last time I went.

This weekend was the first time since Dec 8 that the field around my house hasn't been covered with snow.

Re: VIN numbers

The VIN is on top of the drivers side frame rail in this pic just rear of the end of the Master Cylinder, It's inline with the big hole on the side of the frame rail.
