Unique license plate light.

What are you using for a license plate light that is unique? This is mine, and yes you can open a bottle with it.

Re: Unique license plate light.

I mounted a 1895 bulb behind it and let it shine down.

Re: Unique license plate light.

I like it!

PSA:

However, this will give any police officer/sheriff/State Trooper or other LEO ample reason to stop you and have a conversation with you.

He/She will take the opportunity to use your modification as an excuse to initiate a traffic stop on your truck. He/She will mention it as the reason for the stop and then proceed to bust you for whatever else He/She finds from that point forward ( Note that the word TRUCK on your plate is obscured ).

This is the reason I never modify basic safety equipment or basic requirements like tag lights, signal lights, head lights, brake lights, etc.

Don't give them a reason to talk to you. Because if they are talking they are trying to bust you.

Hth,

-klb

Re: Unique license plate light.

I am in good rapport with the locals and they like the fact I've added disc brake and shoulder harness seat belts as well as extra lights behind the grille and side marker lights ,things that weren't even available in '67 .Plus I don't have any problems with the light not shining well enough on my plate .

You'll be fine...like you said , as long as the light shines on the plate you're good. Neat idea

I put the shoulder belts in my '67 for safety sake but also, as an added benefit, I don't have to explain to some eager LEO that he had no right to pull me over if I weren't wearing a shoulder belt!

I like your plate light, it is cool and functional as you say ( in more ways than one ). Just be aware that these guys will use that against you for their own purpose.

Just gotta know your LEOs. We (the hot rod/street race crowd) in our little podunk southern California town were pretty much on a first name basis with a lot of the CHP. Case in point- one of the guys (Roger) hadn't got his new tags, yet. One of the CHP pulled up behind him, got on the PA and asked if he had the new tags. The guy riding shotgun leaned out the window and yelled, "No, but he has a note from his mother!". The officer laughed, and Roger didn't get a ticket, but he DID go to the DMV the next day and take care of it. That was back in the early '70s. Good times!
