Front big brake upgrade on the cheap??

I'm new to the whole forum deal so if I go about this wrong my bad....
I own an 85 swb c10 with the factory 1.25" front brake setup. My question is, is their a way to use other factory components that utilise slip on rotors that are bigger and possibly a 2 piston caliper. I've searched around and haven't seen anything that isn't an aftermarket setup that costs like 1500 bucks. My goal with this build outs 2 use as much factory products as possible, don't get me wrong the aftermarket products out there are real nice but not really the way I want 2 go on this 1. Thanks in advance

Re: Front big brake upgrade on the cheap??

Yes, but in the end, it will still be at least $1000. C5/C6 corvette brakes can be done. I did it on my gen2 camaro front end. They use a 13' slip on rotor, and twin piston forged aluminum caliper. Calipers are $2-300, and EBC rotors/pads are about $130.

Check out Kore3 for the hubs/kits. kore3.com They have the hubs for C10, but the rotors will have to be drilled for 5x5 bolt pattern.

I started with a cheap conversion kit. I can't recommend that because they use gen3 camaro rotors as a hub, and machine them in a lathe to make your new spindle. When I pressed in the wheel studs, they cracked. Run away from these cheepass kits! The Kore3 hubs are billet aluminum, and a work of art!

I had seen where there was a guy who had machined down a rotor but I wondered how durable they were. Thanks for the input, I'm gonna look into that setup
