Want to use stock 1970 Z-28 springs, but spring seat pockets machined to ~1.47"
I bought a pair of ~1970 Chevy small block heads (camel hump, 2.020/1.600 valves, casting # ‘186) for my truck.
The spring seat pockets have been machined to ~1.47” diameter for dual springs. Can I still run stock 1.241” diameter springs with these heads (as long as I use shims that fit the pocket)? Or do I have to buy some locators or spring cups to stabilize the bottoms of the springs. I want to use the 3911068 stock Z-28 springs or equivalent. The plan is to use stock 1970 Z-28/LT-1 parts or equivalents as much as possible.
