72 gas tank sending unit

I purchased a sending unit and after it was shipped I realize I might have gotten the wrong part. The unit I ordered is for a 72 pickup although the product description said "72 V8 sending unit", so I thought it was the suburban one. Anyway, will this work in my Suburban or do I need to order the panel truck specific one?

I had to have it overnighted because the tank is already out and I have to get this thing moving. I really don't want to send it back and have to overnight another one.

Any thoughts or opinions would be great.

Re: 72 gas tank sending unit

You have to get another. The pickup is different than the suburban/blazer/panel sending units.

However, what was wrong with your old one?

Re: 72 gas tank sending unit

Took it to local garage, good guy that works on older cars a lot. He checked out the fuel gauge and wiring to the unit, all looks good. The float is not cracked either.

Had the same problem with a 64 Impala I had, and it was the unit on that also.
