Came here with one truck and in need of answers. That truck is gone and finished .. Oh, not by me lol. Oldiron did it up right.

Lots of trucks and truck dollars later, still don't have the "one" keeper. But Ive had a lot of fun, and met a lot of very cool people. Locally and around the globe.

Probably should have just kept the one haha! Unfortunately, now its out of my price range. Guess Ill have to stick around

Funny how it works. For me it is about opposite. I came here in '04 with 9 running registered trucks and now have one. I first lurked, but signed up to answer questions and give info that seemed to be lacking or incorrect. The one I have now I did already own before I joined here, though. I have made many friend here

Not sure on my join date but I had my 71 when I joined and I've owned it 32 years this March. That means around 1986!

I came here looking for info and as both of you to give some to.

A lot of good people on here and I to have meet a bunch of them.

I was the same way. July of 02 was my starting point. Came here looking for info on the truck I had at the time. Several trucks later, I am here still. I did make the mistake of not keeping that 70, but that is life.

Re: Join date: 2-1-2002

I had my dually long before I signed up with this outfit, but had also lurked for a quite a while before committing. You guys and gals were a huge help with some insightful information that didn't show up in any manuals. Some of the little known tricks and willingness to help were/are excellent. I also appreciate the non-combative aspect here and the lack of controversial subjects, language, and flaming you see on other sites.
I've had my truck longer than any other vehicle I've ever owned. Sometimes it crosses my mind to sell it and build another one, but a few things keep coming back to me...I built this truck exactly the way I wanted it, I imagine how I would feel a few days and weeks after I sold it and the $$ had started to slip away. I think I would take "seller's remorse" to a whole new level. The thing I really don't want to admit but have to come to grips with is I'm not getting any younger and my agility isn't what it used to be, so crawling around, over, under, and into a new build would take me twice as long as it should.
So, I guess I'll just use it as I have been, lightly, but plan around the good weather days and use it as it was intended. I'm not afraid to get it dirty, but it just seems to take forever to clean it up again.

Re: Join date: 2-1-2002

I'm an old grump who joined in '14: pretty much a newbie and always will be by comparison to many on this board. I have always owned trucks but never really considered saving one from the rust bin of history until an old friend (a young lady I know) coaxed me into abandoning my plans for a motorcycle restoration in exchange for her truck project. I helped her acquire a truck, begin the project and she introduced me to this board. She has since moved on, I have acquired the project and never regretted it.

Though I can turn a wrench, I would never have known the possibilities of parts interchange and modifications had it not been for those who have gone before me. This board and it's members has carried my through some perplexing and frustrating challenges with an inordinate degree of success; challenges which, without the assistance of the knowledgeable members here, may never have met with success.

Hopefully I can finish my truck before I am to old to enjoy driving it but it is very enjoyable to build nonetheless. One of the best rewards coming from it is that I have finally reached a stage wherein I can confidently share some ideas and in a small way assist others here who may have basic questions. That is, if I don't become to much of a cantankerous old fart in the meanwhile.

I joined on my b-day in 2005 with the '62 I still own and will probably never get rid of. Had a few others come and go... a '65, an '83, a '73, a '67 and the list goes on.... but my "Deuce" sticks around.

It's always been enjoyable to be on this site to get and give valuable information.... Many great people... thanks to all!!

This thread made me think of something. I've been a member since January of 2001, but I couldn't remember exactly when I bought my Blazer. Reading this thread made me realize I could search my posts because I was sure I posted the day I bought it. A few minutes search, and there it was: February 16, 2007. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=227891

And to make it even better, today's my birthday, and it hadn't been going too great so far, but finding this makes me really happy. So thanks to all of you for sparking a great idea. This board is awesome!

It was a mixture of work and play. I had a shortbed 2wd & 4wd, a few 3/4t 4wds, tow truck, C/20 camper, and my work trucks. Also square body Suburban and Blazer. I had a bunch of trucks. I just remember I had nine in my signature when I joined... When I was married and business was good. I wouldn't want all that now. Just a couple few is fine

Hey Slo, I know what you mean. I know I am younger but the aches and pains are there and some positions are hard to do. Talk about age. Think about how old we were when we joined and now. I've gone from my 40s to my 60s!

Thanks Special, I needed that. I was just barely out of my 50's now it's middle 70's. The thing that really brings it home to me is my kids are getting into their early/middle 50's! How can that be??
In spite of the normal aches and pains I've been blessed and for meds only need the occasional Advil........of course my "handle" may explain that. I'm not very fast, but I sure am slow!

Re: Join date: 2-1-2002

I bought a 72 new, and sold it and bought a 76 4x4. I sold the 76 in 1980 and bought a one owner 72 Cheyenne Super. By the late eighties I always had at least two 67-72's, one for work and one for show.

I don't remember what brought me here almost ten years ago, but I was still working and didn't have time to participate much for a long time.

I bought the red and white 72 I have now in 1988 from the original owner. He bought it new in Corpus Christi, TX and shipped it to Saudi Arabia. When he retired, he brought it back to the states and moved here. (His story, not mine.)

Rides like a boat?

Lots of changes over the years with these older trucks, here and out there. I have a feeling I will always be here, since I plan to stay at least until CG decides which truck is the keeper
