My '67 project start to finish.

This is the start of a dream of mine for quite some time, I bought the truck I wanted in the pacific northwest sight unseen, and after i got it home realized the cab was rusting from the inside out. I found a unicorn rust free '67 motorhome cab with A/C locally and switched it out to start.

The cab was super clean inside and out.

I built a LQ4 with LQ9 pistons, luniti cam, LS6 intake and belt drive, Speartech harness, and computer flash.

Intake tube from a chev truck did the trick, raised the battery box up 4" to accommodate the filter for the clean look. The lokar shifter is a little redicluous, but I really like it.

Disk brake conversion, drop spindles, belltech shocks, and lowering springs. So 3.5/4 drop. Welded up the aux tank holes. Found a survivor bumper and got rid of the utility jobber.

She runs really good, and it has been my daily driver for about 3 months. It drives so nice, I even sold my commuter.

In a blink of an eye. It can all be taken away from you.

I can honestly say the words that you are reading now are a miracle. I have no Idea how I survived. A guy on his cell phone pulled in front of me and stopped to turn into a parking lot, I swerved hard, and the truck spun out into a tree. I was ejected, and spent 11 days in trauma. I'm not typing this for sympathy, rather as a reminder to be safe out there. Hug the ones you love, Don't stress the small stuff, enjoy the trivial things. in a flash it all could be gone.

My wife only looks forward when driving.
I try to tell this to my wife.
Not only to pay attention to what she is doing,
But be aware of other drivers around her.
Then even sometimes that doesn't help.
Person stopped at a stop sign up the road from me to my right.
I was watching them I get less than 50 feet from them .
Then they go, Right in front of me.
I missed them by a few feet. Lucky me.

Man. I know your in all kinds of pain. Thank the Lord you are alright and lived to tell about it. I sincerely hope and pray you will have a full recovery, whatever your injuries may be. Please tell me the jack wagon who altered the course of your life has taken responsibility for this. Please tell us he had insurance.

I've read through this a few times, it's hard to wrap my head around it. Really cool truck with a great powertrain, unfortunate to see it destroyed.

But more importantly, you're alive. It's so easy to get totally engulfed in our daily lives with work, finances, family, hobbies, or some stupid little fight with your significant other. I really try to keep things in perspective like you said - don't forget what's important in life.

Thanks a ton for all your kind words of encouragement it means a lot. Currently healing up, and surfing the web for a replacement truck. Unfortunately the insurance company is offering me 1/3 of what I had invested, but I'm working on getting the value up. Wish me luck.

Have to go against the grain here. Certain amount of luck involved in these matters. Level of attention, driver ability, vehicle condition/capability and the truth of determinism that created the moment in time. Quite lucky you survived.
I will say a modern vehicle wouldn't have fared any better against a tree but would’ve had a better chance of avoiding the other driver w/o spinning out. But too many variables to calculate w/o the data.
