New cowl to hood seal problems - help

Tryed to install a new cowl to hood seal on my '68 today and it seems the the edge hits under the hood on the top side not rear most edge. The new seal is shaped like an " L " and I'm thinking it should be shaped more like an " < ". Don't have an original to compare to. It holds the hood too high when on so I removed it for now. Any ideas ? Thanks for any input.

You are right about the shape of the seal, it should not be like an "L". The only suggestion is to get a different brand seal. The last seals that I got from Christians Truck parts worked real well and they are the right shape.

I am sure other vendors have good ones also.

I installed a new cowl seal (bought from Tim) over the weekend and have the same problem. If it doesn't relax to the correct position after a while then I will reinstall the old seal.

If it is hold your hood up you might need to look a little further- weak hood springs/ hinges will really show up with a new seal. Try looking at the hood adjustment first and then go from there.
