Talking Repeat issue alt wiring

I have been reading ur posts on threads about wiring alt. was wondering if u could help me out I have a 84 gmc c1500 sierra classic but I have a serpentine setup and am using a alt. from a 94 350 sbc the only problem I have is it makes a buzzing noise I have changed it out multiple times and upgraded it to a brand new one instead of remand I know it's a wiring issue. I can send u pics. The alt charges and my gauge registers voltage but I know that buzz means my batteries are draining with the ignition off and it's been proven cause I have had to leave my batteries on the charger when I forget to disconnect them. Well sorry for the book just wanted to give as much back story as I could if u can help me I would really appreciate it thanks.

Re: Repeat issue alt wiring

How did you rewire it? Using adapter connection or just slice the old one? I had problems before in my '92 Z28 and it turned out a wrong wire connected to the pigtail my alt used to be hot as soon as I start the engine

I just spliced it in and yea I notice it gets hot at the splice where it feeds to charge the batteries but only when the air bags kick on.

Cali, go over to the 67-72 forum. look up a member Vettevet. He has a write up on this very thing. I believe you need a resistor in there on one of the wires.
