Need Help - Steering Column Disassembly

64 C10 steering column I'm taking apart to replace trashed bearings and clean. See the attached photo. Can anyone tell me how to separate the outer from the inner column. Seems to be under spring tension. Apparently I'm missing something. Someone had a great thread or video on here how to do it but can't find it.

Re: Need Help - Steering Column Disassembly

I did this for my own column last spring. Here are the directions from the 1960 shop manual. Need to step on the upper lever to compress the spring, then tap from the top of the column with a wooden block. Mine took some doing, but I didn't need a BFH or anything. It's step #5 and fig 26, sorry for rotated pic. "Mast jacket" is the outer tube.

VETNAT,

Thanks for the reply. Seems simple enough.
